Today’s guest post on ‘not’ showering money on baby showers is by Ms. Yuimi Vashum.
So it’s that time of the year again to plan and to attend baby showers. Mixed feelings of excitement at the thought of a new addition in the family, and anxiousness because you have to plan (or attend) the baby shower.
To calm your nerves and help you plan better, I will discuss how to cut corners in the budget and come up with awesome party and gift ideas.
So, it doesn’t matter if you are planning the party or you are attending one, I have got it all covered for you. As a part of our budget saving strategy, I will be talking about how to cut the budget in location, decors, stationery and more. I will also be discussing on tips to maximize your savings by using coupons while buying gift for the baby showers.
#1 For the Party Planner: Mommy
Keep it In-House
Hosting your showers at fancy restaurants or cafes sounds perfect, but why cash out on the unnecessary thing when you can keep the party at home or at a neighborhood park? Save the extra 5% of your budget for serving goodies instead.
Do not splurge on the decors by buying in tidbits. Buying in bulk is the best way to save money. You can also look up on Pinterest, YouTube or personal blogs for DIY decor ideas with baby shower themes.
Cook, Don’t Hire
It’s time to call off the caterers and do some fun cooking at home. Here, you can scrounge the groceries’ store for discounts or coupons. If you are low on the helping hand, reach out to your family members and your besties to help you in the kitchen department. Besides, there is nothing the internet cannot dish out for you. Get the DIYs for baking or whipping up salads, or simply look for recipes online.
If you are someone set on a parting gift, then a cookie wrapped in a cellophane bag and tied with a ribbon is the perfect gift idea.
#2 For The Invites: Friends
Don’t Splurge, Be Sensible
When I say this, I don’t mean you should be a spendthrift. I mean that you should be shopping wisely. Look for coupons online or where the sales are going on. When you are selecting the items, choose the ones that are durable and essential for the baby so that you will also help your friend save some money.
Buy baby bath and skin products from BabyHugz who is offering a discount of 20%!
From quick-dry bed protector to the soft mat, grab some diapering products from FirstCry and enjoy flat 15% Off!
Buying feeding and nursing products is also a good idea. You can get the expecting mommy a reshaping girdle or baby bibs for the baby.
#3 Maximizing Savings through Coupons
Coming to the last part of our discussion, let’s take a look at how to cut budgets by using coupons. This is applicable for both the party planner and the one who is gift hunting for the baby.
Whether you are planning your or your sister’s/ cousin’s baby shower, you can now heave a sigh of relief in the budget front. Take the cue from some of these tips, get innovative and cut your spendings without even looking like you did.
So, what do you think? Did I help you un-dent your wallet? I hope I did. If you have a better idea, I’d like to know in the comment so that I can come up with a better post next time.
