Parenting advice that I had no mood to hear, that I had never ever asked for, that I had no mood to drink up and use and that only irritated me as it came.
But still, just like they say, ‘men will be men’, I say – ‘people will be people’! People after people kept pouring in to meet my son and me and advice after advice continued to pour in. The funny part of it was – the advice was mostly repetitive and quite often useless or irrelevant (probably because it was unasked for).
Here are 6 parenting advice that I got over and over again, which I’m sure you too must have got as a mom, and which irritated me to the core (you’ll know why as you read):
1. “Don’t make him wear diapers! They are bad!”
Did I ask you if I should make my baby wear cloth diapers or cotton diapers or superman pants? It’s ‘my’ baby, ‘my’ baby’s pee and poop, ‘my’ baby’s skin and above all ‘my’ money being spent to buy diapers. Besides, would you come running for help in the middle of the night when my baby pees on the bed? Huh!
2. “Hasn’t he stopped taking the bottle yet? You shouldn’t give it to him at this age!”
